Continuous Improvement
Our philosophy is one of continuous improvement and we’re committed to contributing to our group’s science-based 2030 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets of a 42% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions and 12.3% reduction in scope 3 emissions.1
As at the end of 2024, we are on track to meet those targets and had reduced our scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 34%.
We have done this through operational efficiency and electrification projects and large-scale solar installations which supply the majority of our daytime electricity requirements across Australia and New Zealand.
Currently, all of our Australian manufacturing sites and half of our New Zealand manufacturing sites have significant solar generation capacity with a total of 5,879 panels now installed and an aggregate generation capacity of 2.37 MW. In 2024 alone, we added a further 2,493 panels with a maximum generation capacity of 1.097 MW. At the facilities where they are installed, those solar installations generate approximately 30% of those site’s total electricity requirements on average and more than 40% in Summer months.
1Our group’s 2030 objectives are based on a 2020 baseline. Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions include emissions from our manufacturing processes and energy consumption and Scope 3 GHG emissions include those from purchased raw materials, goods and services and the end-of-life treatment of sold products.
