Room of the Year Competition is open!
Introducing, our Room Of The Year Competition 2024 – the very first!
Homeowners and retailer stores who have recently completed a project featuring carpet or hard flooring by Godfrey Hirst, Hycraft, Feltex or Redbook are invited to submit rooms that show flooring integrated into overall design.
The competition provides an opportunity to celebrate flooring as the fifth wall. As one of the largest areas in a room, the floor contributes to the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the space. We are looking to showcase rooms with great design that effortlessly harmonise form and function, creating spaces that captivate the senses while seamlessly enhancing the practical aspects of daily living.

Our Expert Judge
With an extensive career spanning over 30 years, Bree Leech is an Interior Designer renowned for her expertise in trend forecasting and styling. A maestro in colour, Bree approaches each project with a commitment to creating aesthetically appealing and emotionally rich spaces. Her projects, marked by surprises in colour, pattern clashes, and innovative use of scale, reflect a passion for gently pushing boundaries and intuitively understanding her clients' brief.
Beyond her role as an Interior Designer, she stands as a visionary trend forecaster, shaping the contemporary landscape of Australian interiors with her forward-thinking aesthetic.
We encourage entries from both Australian and New Zealand home owners and / or the retail stores that have worked with the homeowner to complete the room.
For the inaugural Room of the Year, we invite you to submit projects completed from 1 January 2023 through to the closing date (31 October 2024).
Entrants can submit up to 10 digital images that illustrate how flooring has enhanced the room, and a brief room description and rationale of the flooring type and colour selection.
Finalists 2024 – announced at the beginning of November 2024
Prize: AU$500 for homeowners and AU$500 for their store
Consumers Choice 2024 – announced December 1st 2024, as voted on by the public
Prize: AU$1,000 for homeowners and AU$1,000 for their store
Room Of The Year 2024 – announced December 1st 2024, judged by Bree Leech
Prize: AU$4,000 for the successful homeowner and AU$4,000 for their store
Entries close on 31 October, 2024. The finalists will be announced at the beginning of November on the Godfrey Hirst, Feltex and Redbook websites, and the winners will be revealed at the beginning of December.
