You might have heard of ‘material health’, a term used to describe how healthy a building product is for you and the overall environment. When it comes to material health, it’s what’s on the inside that matters most. Leading the way in healthier carpet™, Feltex broadloom wool carpets are all officially approved Declare™ Red List Free.
What’s The Red List?
The LBC Red List is a register of manufacturing ingredient ‘worst in class’ such as BPA, PVC, fluorocarbons, added formaldehyde, VOC’s and phthalates. Achieving the Red List Free approval guarantee that a product does not contain Red List chemicals.
Why It’s Important?
Interior finishes and furnishings can contain Red List pollutants. Acting as a ‘nutrition label’ for building materials, Declare™ Red List Free is the gold standard of environmental approval and product transparency. Carpets with the Red List Free approval offer absolute peace of mind for anyone looking to create a healthier, safer and more sustainable home.
How Did We Achieve Approval?
To achieve this, we worked with our entire supply chain to identify, source and utilise healthier manufacturing ingredients. The entire chemical composition of the carpets were scrutinised to a threshold of 100-parts-per-million (100ppm); essentially creating a ‘nutrition’ label of ingredients. The result? A Declare™ Red List Free approval on all Feltex broadloom wool carpets the highest and best rating available for material health.
The Nutrition Label For Building Materials
Declare™ Red List Free approved products offer full transparency, providing you with peace of mind that you are selecting a healthy building product for a healthier and safer home. With the transparency of the Declare™ Red List Free program, you can make an informed decision to select a floorcovering that creates a safe and healthier home environment.
There Are Three Levels Of Approval:
Declared (good)This base level of transparency, while revealing a product’s ingredients, will nevertheless contain some Red List ingredients, which will be highlighted.
Red List Approved (better)Where chemicals or product ingredients have no available public information, or a manufacturer is unable to publicly identify an ingredient due to proprietary registration. Products may potentially contain Red List chemicals which if identified, will be highlighted in orange.
Red List Free (best)Complete ingredient disclosure revealing no Red List chemicals at levels at or above 100ppm or 0.01 percent.
Feltex broadloom wool carpets achieve the highest and best Declare Red List Free approval™.
